Vinyl Styles We Install
- Vinyl privacy — solid 6 ft and 8 ft panels, the most common request. Looks like a wood privacy fence but never needs painting.
- Privacy with lattice top — solid below, decorative lattice on top for an 8 ft fence that feels less heavy
- Picket / scalloped picket — traditional front-yard style, 3 ft or 4 ft height, white most common
- Two- and three-rail ranch — horse-pasture style, often white, low maintenance vs. painted wood
- Pool-code vinyl — meets the spacing and gate requirements for code-required pool fencing
Colors and Finishes
White is the most common and most affordable. Tan and almond are popular for warmer aesthetic. Woodgrain finishes (look like cedar or weathered wood) cost more but give the look of wood without the maintenance.
Vinyl vs. Wood: The Honest Trade-Off
- Upfront cost: Vinyl typically costs 50–100% more than cedar privacy
- Lifetime cost: Vinyl wins. Cedar needs sealing every 2–3 years and full replacement around year 15–20. Vinyl lasts 30+ with no maintenance.
- Look: Wood looks like wood. Modern vinyl looks like vinyl up close even if it’s woodgrain. Some people prefer one, some the other.
- Repair: A damaged vinyl panel needs replacing (often hard to color-match if the fence has weathered). A damaged wood picket gets pulled and a new one nailed in.
- Hot weather: Black or dark-colored vinyl can warp in extreme sun. White and light colors do fine in McNairy County summers.
Post Setting Matters Just as Much
Vinyl fence still depends on properly set posts. Vinyl posts get sleeved over metal or wood inserts in some systems, or use a heavier-walled vinyl post in others — either way, the post anchor needs to be set in concrete below frost line, the same as wood fence. Cheap vinyl installs cut corners here and the fence still leans.
How We Price Vinyl Fence
Linear-foot pricing varies more than wood because vinyl panel quality varies a lot (commercial-grade vinyl looks and lasts very differently from budget panels). We quote in writing after we know height, style, color, and gate count. Here’s how our quotes work.
